About the December 15 Google Algorithm Update

Hello everyone;

What do you think about the algorithm results that started to be felt before December 15th and became seriously visible afterwards? All SEO experts were stunned like rabbits caught in headlights. Big sites took a nosedive, and whatnot. I will tell you about what happened to me. If you mention what happened to you or methods you know, let’s get past this process already.

What Happened to Me
My site, which is completely original, constantly updated, and has no spam anywhere (or so I think), suddenly regressed from the 3rd rank to the 2nd page. Naturally, when this happened, I panicked and updated the article; I turned a 250-plus word article into a 1200-word encyclopedia. Then, as I saw “user experience, user experience” articles here and there, I went crazy and ensured users could easily reach headings via internal linking.
After doing these, I regressed to the 3rd page.

Meanwhile, I look at the competitors: an article that hasn’t been updated for 2 years is in 3rd place. A parked site with no backlinks or claims is in 4th place. Even a closed domain name that I redirected with 301 and later canceled appears above me.

Then I read somewhere that Google wants a beautiful theme or something. I changed the theme, arranged the contents, everything was great. Then I looked, and I was on the 4th page.
Then someone had given 2-3 spam backlinks; I disavowed them. In fact, along with those, I disavowed everything that looked like spam. I restored the site to its old state, increased its speed to the 90s [percent], and now the site is in the middle of the 5th page

In Conclusion
Friends, after all my experiments, I saw that no matter what I did, it went backward. In this process, the site I didn’t even enter, whose content I didn’t touch at all, stands in the same place (where it regressed to). What do you think Google is after? These results are not normal and all of them are faulty. Even when I search for a normal subject, I can’t find what I want. 3-4 year old stale topics appear. Since I know the situation, I look at the 2nd, 3rd, 4th pages and find it.

I am suffering from the same issue. I tried what your friend tried, but each time the site regressed a little further. What changed in Google? Heartless Google.

Friends, actually things started changing before December 15th. The truth of the update is this; the backlinks you acquired for your site have lost value. Therefore, your site has regressed as well. If you hadn’t messed with anything and waited, within 15 days you would have returned to a few spots behind your old position, but what you did wasn’t wrong, on the contrary, they were very right things. The only mistake was timing…

With this update, a blow was dealt to social bookmark sites pulling feeds, and the backlinks you earned from there were reduced to “zero”. Don’t be sad, even giant sites got their share of this update. In fact, those who use social media very actively suffered more damage! The update-after-update that comes after every update has kicked in, and the tumbling sites have returned to their old positions, varying slightly up or down. I am saying this based on looking at over 30 sites I have on hand.

If we look at the general situation, the 1st page rankings have become so volatile that if you can stay in the 1st spot for 2 days, kiss it and put it on your head.

As a recommendation; if there isn’t any work on your site that would create spam, I’d say don’t make changes to your site after any update

@Karrizima we are probably in similar industries. There are many people struggling in the relevant sectors right now. Because what you wrote is exactly what is being experienced. It backfires whenever we touch something saying “is the mistake here?”, and many friends I’ve seen are suffering from this situation lately. In addition to what you said, we also tried many things like SSL certificates, extending the domain duration for 3-5 years, etc. We are still trying. If there is a development, we can update here and reach a clear conclusion accordingly.

I think everyone should write briefly what they tried so we can proceed accordingly.

Design changed: didn’t work
SSL: didn’t work
Domain duration etc.: didn’t work
Content push: didn’t work
Comment push: didn’t work

I experienced this on a few of my sites, sir. Since they are AdSense-focused, it isn’t possible for me to share the link directly, but other friends can share it if they deem it appropriate. (Please don’t take this personally; there are many malicious people, and I’ve had some trouble recently, which is why I made this decision.)

My site dropped to the second page for the keyword, but the content rankings are very good. Even though I’m on the second page for my main keyword, I’m getting very good traffic thanks to the content.

Is the competition high for the main keyword?

No, it’s not.

I didn’t have any issues with non-competitive main keywords. I experienced problems with some of the keywords that have competition and get traffic.

Guys, immediately jumping on a theme change is nonsense. If you ask why, if you install a new theme and its SEO settings are worse than the old one, it messes up your ranking even worse. I don’t know, I usually leave sites alone after an update; I let them sit on the sidelines for 1-2 months.

Switching to a good theme would be beneficial. My old theme was bad, it wasn’t mobile-friendly or anything. When I switched to a good theme, both the internal browsing rate and the number of comments increased. Consequently, the content rose to good positions.

Friends, we have listed so many problems, but is there a solution to these problems, and most importantly, how do we need to continue with future SEO efforts…

Patience, friends, I think  One of my sites also dropped in the rankings, it didn’t return for a week. I didn’t do anything, and then it went back to its old place. But there is no definite solution or anything affecting the rankings right now; we need everyone to write down the work they’ve done on this subject and analyze it.
