How to Increase Adsense Earnings and CPC?

Note: No information is certain, it is merely a product of “logical” thinking.

The images are a bit misaligned because I copy-pasted them. Those who want to read more neatly and from the source can click HERE.

Hundreds of visitors, dozens of clicks, and earnings: 0.20 kuruş ??? CPC: 0.02-0.03

Yes, I know unfortunately many website owners experience such problems. With my approximately 4 years of Adsense experience, I will try to explain how to overcome these, what you can do. I will also make a few suggestions.

What Will You Learn?

  • Adsense CPC increase,- Correct ad placement and its impact on Adsense,- Factors affecting CPC,- Topics most suitable for Adsense,- Why Adsense CPC rates drop.

First of all, I need to state that;

[ol]

  • With 1000-2000 unique visitors, earning hundreds of lira is a bit of a dream. Of course, except for some sectors.- There is no logic in adding Adsense to your 3-5 month old sites. Unless they have extraordinary traffic…- Earning with Adsense is solid and constant but requires effort. It is like an investment for the future.[/ol]
    To be successful on Adsense, you need to know the source of the money. That is Adwords. (Hey bro, wait a second, I’m reading this but I don’t know what Adwords and Adsense are at all, if you say so, check out my articles if you’d like; What is Adsense? – What is Adwords?)

Yes, let’s continue. The earnings coming to you from Adsense come out of an Adwords customer’s pocket. Google only acts as an intermediary between the advertiser and the publisher. Since this is the case, the advertiser essentially determines how much money you get when an ad published on your site is clicked. If the advertiser has determined the CPC, that is, the Cost Per Click as 0.10, this becomes the maximum amount that advertiser will pay when these ads are clicked. Since this is the maximum, the minimum can drop to ridiculous figures like 0.02.

How do I know this? I manage many Adwords accounts. Now I will give an example below, you will see the amount my advertiser pays per click in the display ad network.

You see two separate campaigns in the picture. One’s Average Cost Per Click is 0.08, the other is 0.01. Of course, since it is professionally optimized, the lowest fees are paid. But generally, this is the amount advertisers pay in the display network. If Google takes 0.08 per click and gives half to you, 0.04 remains. And I’m not even mentioning 0.01.

****So bro, what will we do? ****
Ad Optimization
First of all, CPCs are not this low in every sector. The reason is the return rate of that sector. I mean, in the picture above, 30,000 people clicked but only 0.5% of them actually shop. Considering these, we make the following settings; (Especially those who add ads to their sites and wait for money should pay attention to this part.)

[ol]

  • We log into Adsense and go to the “Allow & block ads” tab from the top menu. - Here, in the “Advertiser URLs” section at the top, you can block any site you want specifically. I have no recommendation here. You know the best for your site…- We move to the “Sensitive categories” section. Here, a section like this appears before us;[/ol]

First of all, what matters here is your site category. But in a general sense, you should follow a path like this. On the right of the categories, it says Ad Impression Percentage and next to it Earnings Percentage. We allow the ads that bring you the most earnings and block the categories that got impressions but didn’t generate earnings. Additionally, I usually block quality-lowering ads like “Weight Loss” “Sexual and Sexuality…”. “Politics” etc. depends on your site category. If it’s suitable, it can stay, if not, press block.

Similarly, there is another nice application of Adsense for you to understand better. “Ads (Ad Review Center)” in the last tab. This section is probably not activated for you. We activate this, then it starts collecting data and you can see the ads published instantly and the advertisers and block whoever you want.

Why did we do these? Because we don’t want ads that will disturb our visitors and have a low probability of getting clicks to be shown on our site.

Is that it? No! There are a few more things we will do.

Ad Placement
Ad placement isn’t a factor that extremely affects earnings, but if not done correctly, it can even be harmful. The main rules are as follows;

  • Ads should not disturb the user, should not be obtrusive,- Should not ruin the site design, (Incompatible ad sizes should not be selected)- Mobile compatible ads must definitely be present. Nowadays, 80% of the audience is mobile users.

How Will the Placement Be?

Actually, unfortunately, it is impossible to speak definitely on this subject either. The reason is your website’s changing design. You might have a site like htacer.com without a Right or Left menu or a variable article content design. But in general, the following placements are the ones with the most return;

[ol]

    • Square ad at the end of the article or in the middle of your long articles. The reason for this is that it triggers the keywords within the article and inevitably appears to a user who continues reading the article.[/ol]

       2. Top of article ad; the important part of this ad type is also that it is triggered by keywords within the article and the reader sees the ad right at the beginning even if they won't read the rest

  1. Ad type intertwined with content. This is a method generally used by flash game sites or news portals or tech blogs that have many articles on their homepage. Especially an uninformed user thinks the ad is content and clicks.

There are many different placement options, but as I said, the best one is the one suitable for the site design. If you have something on your mind, comment with your website address, and I’ll try to help you with your ad placement.

Article Page Optimization
The page where your articles are read is very important. Users enter the content page directly, not your site’s homepage, after a Google search. For this reason, we must market our ads in the best way in this section. What should be done? The paginated page technique should be used.

For example, you are writing an article about health. “7 methods good for back pain”. Instead of giving these 7 methods on one page, we should use the paginated page technique. You will understand better with the picture;

If you ask why we push the user to change pages, the reason is the different ads that appear with every page change. So when the user switches to the other page, different ads are loaded and instead of seeing one type of ad, they see a few types, increasing the probability of clicking.

And we’ve come to the end of another article. Here, I explained what can be done for site owners regarding Adsense. But low or high CPC doesn’t just end with these. Your site’s sector is quite important.

In the future, I will write about how to make the correct sector selection for those who want to enter a new sector and earn money from Adsense again. Goodbye :slight_smile:

Good job. I read all of it without getting bored.

There is something I am curious about regarding AdSense. I assumed that AdSense would always display the ads of the highest bidder among the available keywords. If AdSense applies this principle, shouldn’t we enable all advertisers and ad categories instead of blocking them and let AdSense do its job? Or does AdSense not work this way currently?

@ata35 No, that’s not the situation; Google doesn’t even display it that way in its own search results. Since Google always wants to provide the best result to the user, the one who pays doesn’t get to call the shots. Let’s say you offer 10 TL per click and someone else offers 1 TL; if your keyword quality scores are low, the money you spend goes entirely to waste. B

This quality score is determined by a few factors such as the ad text, the landing website, and relevance. If all quality factors are equal, then the bid provided is considered. This doesn’t mean I can offer 10 kuruş, make it very high quality, and not care about the money. To prevent this, Google defines something called a “first page bid.” Etc. etc… it goes on. As you can understand, it is not logical to allow everyone to advertise. The highest bidder is never published.

You have prepared a beautiful article.
Thanks.

It’s a great article. Well done…
