Ways to Increase E-commerce Sales

Hello friends, they’ve given me the management of my company’s e-commerce site. The site isn’t in bad shape at all. Daily visitor numbers do not drop below 300. People are examining the products and adding them to their carts. However, the problem is that those adding items to the cart are leaving without buying. Since I previously worked as a sales consultant, I know this; they are all the type of customers who say “Let me think about it” and then leave, never to return.

My question here is, what do I need to do to increase sales? The site design isn’t anything too fancy. However, it doesn’t seem very possible for us to renovate it at this stage. I must also say that the rankings regarding SEO are not bad. It is a six-year-old domain, and in many searches, we appear in the top 3 image results and definitely on the first page in normal searches.

As I said, the problem is not that visitors aren’t coming. It’s not being able to retain the ones who do. If you have any suggestions, I would be happy to hear them.

Aim to complete the shopping as quickly as possible; reduce details when ordering so they can pay, sign up, and leave on a

If they are abandoning the cart;

  1. Increase and review payment methods.
  2. Shorten the checkout time and process
  3. If there are promotions or extras, indicate them visibly on the payment page (EX: You saved XX lira on this sale, you are benefiting from free shipping)
  4. If there is a discount code, have it appear as a splash after the visitor waits on the payment page for a while. (EX: Morhipo usually offers a 10 lira discount code when you wait in the cart for a while)
  5. Live support will increase your sales.

To bring back the visitor who left:

  1. Run Facebook ads for people who have visited your site
  2. Use email marketing

I wrote down the first things that came to mind at this hour. I hope it helps. Even if it’s small, it can guide you.

Hello, we already have a serious problem regarding this issue. Firstly, even though the site is six years old, I think people cannot fully trust it. We absolutely do not cause trouble regarding cancellation/returns. We definitely compensate for shipping-related errors (product packaging damage, etc.). However, there is definitely a situation related to lack of trust. To be able to send a discount coupon, they need to have provided an email address, etc. They add to the cart without registering and then leave. If they had registered, I could definitely send a coupon, etc. It wouldn’t be a problem at all. I can already do it up to a certain discount. Secondly, we request a TC Identity number on the payment page… There are people who back out at this point. I set up Metrica just to observe this. I look at the click map of the page, not even anyone has clicked on that field. It is not very possible to shorten this -for now-.

We have agreements with Maximum, World, CardFinans, and Bonus. We can do interest-free installments for up to 9 months. Do you recommend integrating PayPal etc.? I don’t think this will have an effect on sales -despite the payment methods at hand-. Because our people don’t really know methods like PayPal. Shortening the payment time seems like it would be effective, but that is not possible at this stage either. We use a ready-made infrastructure. I don’t have full access to everything. The number of changes I can make in the existing parts -approved by the boss- is also limited. I activated the live support section. I have been providing active support for the last week. However, not many people are messaging. Placing promotions and shipping events on the payment page is very reasonable. Moreover, opening a splash pop-up when waiting will be pleasant for the customer. Let me tinker with this. Facebook ads also make a lot of sense. Bringing back the leavers will always be advantageous. :slight_smile:

Friends, thank you for your answers. :slight_smile:

**Retargeting **: I advise you to research this. It will definitely increase your sales. You don’t need to add PayPal, but it is certain that the cash on delivery method will increase your sales. Cash on delivery has the advantage of increasing sales, but it also has the disadvantage of increasing product returns. You can’t know in E-Commerce without experimenting :slight_smile:
