Which Pages Should Be noindex?

Friends, which pages do you set to noindex on your sites? I set author, date archives, and categories to noindex. Some recommend noindexing tag pages as well, but I get good traffic from tag pages. What do you think I should do? Will the content rank higher if I noindex tag pages?

  • Author pages and archives
  • Date pages and archives
  • Archive pages and paginations like Page/1 2 etc.
  • Media, i.e. image pages, either make noindex or redirect to the original post; in All in One SEO or Yoast, say to redirect attachment pages to the main post.
  • Tag pages depend on the site. If there is no spam and you are getting hits, I suggest just cleaning up the unnecessary tags.
