My Business and Google Maps

Greetings,

In Google searches, my site keeps fluctuating to the 2nd spot in the Maps 3-pack for a specific keyword. What kind of work can we do for Maps ranking? Even though we leave reviews and give 5 stars from different accounts, a company with lower reviews is ranking above us.

Also, as a second question, how can we delete photos and reviews previously added to Maps? Despite reporting them as inappropriate, there is no change. They have been sitting there for months. I can’t delete photos, can’t moderate reviews, nor can I change the Maps listing name from my own verified account. I would appreciate it if those knowledgeable about Maps operations could comment.

First of all, while the comments and star ratings you mentioned used to have an effect on appearing in the map section of Google searches, this has now completely changed. Since it also pulls data from business directory style sites, your stars no longer have any significance. Normally, to edit the information of this map, after typing “Google local business,” you can edit the map’s images and information.

To rise quickly in the rankings, instead of having 1,000 accounts with no history from the same computer comment on Maps, getting just 1 comment from accounts with a certain history and authority—such as Local Guides with uploaded photos—will have a much better effect.

Getting a review deleted is very troublesome. It is very difficult to get a negative opinion deleted unless the person has made serious accusations or slander against the company.

If you try to communicate by phone—saying you cannot make changes directly and stating the address—they process it much faster. I once had a desired edit done in 5 minutes over the phone for a place where I couldn’t enter the exact address.

Good luck.
